Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner has announced a new Inspector General to serve in the position vacated by Ricardo Meza in April. Maggie Hickey will take over the position July 13.

Prior to her appointment, Hickey “worked in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois” and as chief of staff to Republican U.S. Senator Peter Fitzgerald of Illinois. She has specialized in financial crimes and special prosecution, “where she prosecuted crimes such as health care fraud, money laundering, and tax violations.”
