Department of Health and Human Services OIG Investigating Skyrocketing Generic Drug Prices

The Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Inspector General (OIG) has begun an investigation into the impact of dramatic price increases of specific generic drugs. Pricing data for a list of 10 widely prescribed medications gathered by the Healthcare Supply Chain Association show costs for individual drugs surging by as much as 8,281% between 2013 and 2014.
