U.S. Department of Health & Human Services OIG announces Outlook 2013 Webcast

OIG will launch its OIG Outlook 2013 webcast on October 24 at 11:00 a.m. EST.  This is a free event.

Hear OIG top executives discuss emerging trends in combating fraud, waste, and abuse in Federal health care programs, OIG’s top priorities for 2013, and upcoming projects outlined in the newly released OIG Work Plan.

Who Should Tune In?  Health care providers, compliance officers, health care lawyers, trade association staff, health care program grant recipients, local, state or Federal Government employees, congressional staff, Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries, and the general public.

This video event has been designed to benefit anyone who works with or benefits from Federal health care programs, such as Medicare and Medicaid.

The roughly 30-minute program will be available for viewing starting 11 a.m. October 24, 2012 and will remain on the site indefinitely. Hear OIG’s top leadership discuss issues such as improper payments, Medicare fraud, exclusions, and other key subject areas. Roberta Baskin, OIG’s Director of Media Communications, will host the question-and-answer sessions featuring OIG’s senior executives.

Daniel Levinson
Inspector General Daniel Levinson is the senior official responsible for audits, evaluations, investigations, compliance initiatives, and law enforcement efforts to combat fraud and abuse in Medicare, Medicaid, and over 300 other public health and human services programs administered by HHS.
Inspector General Levinson welcomes viewers to OIG Outlook 2013 and discusses emerging health care trends, such as electronic health records and cyber-security threats.

Larry Goldberg
Larry Goldberg is the Principal Deputy Inspector General. The Immediate Office of the Inspector General is directly responsible for the overall fulfillment of OIG’s mission and for promoting effective management and quality of OIG processes and products.  Get a behind-the-scenes look at how OIG develops its priorities, from setting big picture goals to the specific reviews that end up in the annual Work Plan.

Gloria Jarmon
Gloria Jarmon, Deputy Inspector General of OIG’s Office of Audit Services, conducts independent audits of HHS programs and/or HHS grantees and contractors.
The Office of Audit Services is the largest civilian audit force in the Federal Government. Learn more about the agency’s work on improper payments, grants oversight, information technology issues, and more.

Stuart Wright
Stuart Wright, Deputy Inspector General of OIG’s Office of Evaluation and Inspections, oversees national evaluations of HHS programs from a broad, issue-based perspective.
As the ‘academia’ of OIG, the focus here will be on the oversight work of HHS contractors, prescription drugs and Medicare, as well as OIG’s high-priority.

Gary Cantrell
Gary Cantrell, Deputy Inspector General of OIG’s Office of Investigations, carries out criminal, civil and administrative investigations of fraud and misconduct related to HHS programs, operations and beneficiaries.
The agency’s ‘Top Cop’ will give a glimpse into OIG’s latest trends in enforcement, how our Medicare Fraud Strike Forces work, and what the public can do to fight fraud.

Greg Demske
Greg Demske is the Chief Counsel to the Inspector General. The Office of Counsel to the Inspector General provides timely, accurate and persuasive legal advocacy and counsel to OIG.
The agency’s Chief Counsel will discuss the importance of exclusions, the role OIG plays in large settlements, how corporate integrity agreements work, and our efforts to educate providers about compliance.
